Dear UGIM participants!

pdf of presentation with any extended or supporting materials for distribution to symposium participants click the tab “SPEAKERS/PRESENTERS -PDF FOR DIST”

All presenters for Sunday bootie camp and Wednesday workshops are responsible for their own presentation computers (VGA connection) and materials.  Please plan to be ready to go at your designated start time.  (There will be no other introductions.)

The soft (editable) program guide will be published tomorrow at the UGIM program tab

This editable pdf will enable you to keep notes live on your tablet or laptop as a pdf “form”, then save and archive your notes for later searching.

Registration will open by 10:30am on Sunday morning at SMBB; and by 7:00am Monday morning at the Rice-Eccles Football stadium.

Please note in your Program Guide that Sunday and Wednesday will be at the (SMBB) building housing the Utah Nanofab.

The Main UGIM conference and symposium are located at the Football Stadium Rice-Eccles Tower.  Parking is free at both locations.  Vendors have received separate instructions by email.

Sunday Fab equipment swap meet:

ugim.nanofab.utah.edu/fab-swap-meet/

Look at fab tools for sale at this link, or post items you would like to make available for sale or trade to others.

Monday IMFT exclusive sub-fab tour

IMFT have made available 35 openings for a sub-fab tour.  This tour has been requested by IMFT to be exclusive to those whose roles in their own research cleanroom facility are relevant to this tour.  We will fill these slots on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis by reservation, either by reply to me on this email (with (1) name and (2) title illustrating relevance to your job role in a research cleanroom, and (3) any specific areas of interest such as gas/chem, bulk storage, distribution, HVAC, remediation or neutralization systems) or if there are still slots available, then at the registration desk on Sunday and/or Monday depending on how fast the list fills.

For participants in Wednesday workshops: Homework (or plane work):

On Wednesday of UGIM, we have Two technical tracks to choose from.

Stuff to prepare for Wednesday Track AThe search for Sister Schools

Noah Clay – UPenn, Facilitator; Subsidy benchmarking: The search for sister Schools: Exchange metrics and administrative budget justifications.

Bring statistics (from ASEE) on COE faculty size and research expenditures, then roughly classify and associate ourselves by small, midsize, large, then individually compare lists of toolsets, then directly comparing notes with peers on expense, revenue, “ROI” justification metrics and budget request approaches

http://profiles.asee.org/profiles?year=2014&school=utah&commit=Search

One session on B-Track will discuss and develop strategies to share media (i.e., safety and operational training videos, educational media) between facilities.  If you plan to attend this session, you may want to view in advance the current videos used at the University of Utah Nanofab.   https://www.nanofab.utah.edu/training/

See you soon!

Dear UGIM attendees,

We are very, very excited to welcome you to Salt Lake City for UGIM ’16 and offer some logistical items for your attention as you prepare for travel…

Updated (advance) day-by-day symposium hourly summary here

(we will be revising and publishing our final Program Guide on the website soon –– first as a printable version, then as an electronically editable version)

(Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the file, since there are two technical tracks on wednesday)

For all topical presenters, we will be assembling the powerpoints on June 8 because that is when our help is available.  Please get your files uploaded by Tuesday June 7.

Deadline June 1 for submitting your slide that introduces your organization

At Harvard there was a nice background slide show running with one ppt slide representing each participant institution or organization (including vendors).  The last day we will accept these is June

New addition this year:  Fab equipment swap meet:

ugim.nanofab.utah.edu/fab-swap-meet/

I confess that this idea originated by our need at the Utah Nanofab to raise funds to upgrade from an EV 420 to an EV 620 (to maintain compatibility with our wafer bonder and improve our backside alignment capabilities), We thought about a bake sale, but now offer the swap meet format to all participants.  A conference room will be staffed during the Sunday evening reception and Nanofab tours, with a student lab tech who can physically show you the tools we have for sale here.  UGIM participants are invited to upload information about their own tools for sale and we will have printouts of all tools at that swap meet time.
